This policy explains what LeagueSpawn (“we”, “us”) collects when you use leaguespawn.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
The short version
- Your bracket data never reaches our servers. Tournaments you build are held in your own browser and encoded into the link you choose to share.
- We do not require an account to use the bracket generator, and we do not ask for your name, address, or payment details.
- We show advertising supplied by Google AdSense, and advertising uses cookies.
- We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are useful.
Information you give us directly
The only information you actively send us is what you put in an email to admin@stackmatchup.com. We use it to answer you and keep a record of the conversation. We do not add you to a marketing list.
Tournament and bracket data
This is the part people most often ask about, so we want to be exact.
When you enter participants, scores, team names, or upload team logos, that information is processed entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. It is written to your browser’s local storage so your work survives a page refresh. It is not transmitted to us, and we have no database of your tournaments.
When you click “Copy shareable link”, the tournament state is compressed into the URL itself. Anyone holding that link can reconstruct the bracket. The link is generated in your browser — we never see it unless you send it to us. Treat a shareable link as public: do not put confidential information in team names if you intend to share it.
When you use the Discord webhook feature, your bracket data is sent directly from your browser to the Discord webhook URL that you supply. It does not pass through our servers. What Discord does with it is governed by Discord’s own privacy policy.
Uploaded team logos are resized in your browser and stored in local storage. They are embedded in PNG exports you generate, but they are not uploaded to us and are not included in shareable links.
You can erase all of this at any time by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings, or by using the “Clear all” and “Reset” controls in the tool.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. We and our partners use them for these purposes:
- Strictly necessary / functional. Local storage that remembers your bracket, chosen theme, and display preferences. Without these the tool cannot work as intended.
- Analytics. Aggregated measurement of which pages are visited, so we know what to improve.
- Advertising. Cookies set by Google and its partners to serve and measure ads. See the section below.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking advertising cookies will not stop you from seeing ads, but the ads will be less relevant. Blocking functional storage will prevent the bracket generator from saving your work.
Advertising, Google AdSense, and third-party vendors
LeagueSpawn is free to use and is funded by advertising. We keep advertising out of the bracket workspace itself and place it around the surrounding content.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or optout.networkadvertising.org.
- Google’s own handling of data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Where required by law, we ask for your consent before non-essential cookies are set, and you can withdraw that consent at any time through your browser settings.
Analytics
We use aggregated analytics to count page views and understand which tournament formats people look up most. We do not use analytics to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell analytics data.
Server logs
Like virtually every website, our hosting provider records standard request logs: IP address, browser user-agent, the page requested, and a timestamp. These are used for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing faults, and are retained for a limited period.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK (GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, or erase personal data we hold about you; to object to or restrict processing; and to data portability. Because we do not operate accounts and do not store your tournaments, in most cases the only personal data we hold is any email correspondence you have sent us. Our lawful bases are legitimate interest (site security and measurement) and consent (advertising cookies).
If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. Serving personalised advertising may be treated as “sharing” under the CPRA; you can opt out using the advertising links above.
To exercise any of these rights, email admin@stackmatchup.com.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data transfers and security
Our service providers may process data outside your country. We use HTTPS across the site. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, but because we deliberately do not store your tournament data, the amount of information at risk is intentionally small.
External links
We link to other sites, including tournament platforms and reference material. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and this policy does not apply to them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced on the site.
