Why organisers look for an alternative
Challonge is a capable, long-established platform, and for a persistent league with player accounts and a public profile it does a lot that we deliberately do not. The friction people run into is usually one of these:
- You have to sign up to create and keep a bracket, and so, in practice, do the people you want to hand it to.
- Your roster lives on someone else’s server. For an internal company event or a private scrim block, that is often a non-starter.
- Ads appear inside the bracket view on the free tier, which is awkward when you are screen-sharing it on stream.
- A quick one-off bracket — a Friday-night eight-team cup — carries the same account overhead as a season-long league.

What you give up, honestly
Because there is no server, there is no account recovery, no organiser dashboard listing past events, and no public profile page. Your bracket lives in your browser and in the link you copy. If you close the tab without copying the link and later clear your browser storage, it is gone. Export a PNG or CSV for anything that matters.
How to move a bracket across in under a minute
- Copy your participant list — one name per line is all we need.
- Paste it into the Participants box above and pick your format.
- Click Generate Bracket. BYEs are placed automatically for any entrant count.
- Click winners as results come in, then export a PNG for Discord or copy the shareable link.
Is LeagueSpawn really free with no account?
Yes. There is no signup, no email capture and no paid tier for the generator. The site is funded by advertising placed around the tool, never inside the bracket workspace.
Can I share a bracket without making people sign up?
Yes. Copy shareable link encodes the entire tournament — participants, format, scores and results — into the URL itself. Anyone who opens it sees the live state, with no account and no database lookup.
Does LeagueSpawn support double elimination with a bracket reset?
Yes. When the losers-bracket team wins the Grand Final both teams have one loss, so the engine automatically adds a decisive second Grand Final, matching standard tournament practice.
Can I still use Challonge for some events and LeagueSpawn for others?
Of course. Many organisers run their season league on a platform with accounts and use LeagueSpawn for one-off cups, qualifiers and scrim blocks where signup friction is not worth it.
